Dear Door Dash, I would like to thank you for your considerstion and this wonderful opportunity to represent your company in my local areas. You have flagged my application for two charges that have appeared on the background check you have initiated.

I have only been convicted of one charge of resisting an officer. In North Carolina resisting arrest does not necessarily mean that I resisted a physical interaction with an officer. Delaying an officer by not showing your identification quickly or when asked for promptly can be considered "resisting". The law is very vague in North Carolina and is being weighed in on heavily by our appellate courts.

The extenuating charges (wreckless driving, endangerment to the public) were false and added as a way to punish me and to make me look unrespectable in a court of law when my day finally came. I was initially charge stacked and convicted of said charges even though the state had not technically met its full burden of proof. I appealed quickly and took my conviction to a higher court where I plead guilty to a single charge of resisting arrest. Not once during my incident with the officer did I resist.

When asked for my identification I did what North Carolina requires of me. I presented my license to the officer against the window. He did not like this. In North Carolina you do not need to physically hand your license over.

It only needs to be presented for the officer to see. If I gave it to him that is a courtesy that I and I alone can grant. I live in a small mountain community where the the law enforcement agencies police for profit. This has become a serious problem in our community.

Before and after my arrest I had the full responsibilities of taking care of my mother who had stage 4 bone, liver, kidney and pancreatic cancer. In response to the charges, I being the sole caretaker would have never risked my ability to be there and to take care of my dying and now deceased mother. She was my world. I have the love and respect of many in my community.

I am a hardworker with a tenacious attitude to succeed as well. I would love to join your team of drivers and to prove to you that I am not the person the police reports and criminal charges make me out to be given the opportunity. Thank you again for your consideration and your time.

I eagerly look forward to hearing back from you with good news. Take care and have a blessed day.
